How & What We Do
How We Raise and Care for Our Dachshund Puppies
At Select Dachshunds, the health, safety, and well-being of our puppies is our top priority. We are proud to be a licensed miniature Dachshund breeder in the state of Texas (License #337) and are committed to maintaining high standards in our breeding program. Here’s what you can expect when you choose a puppy from us:
Puppies stay with us until at least 8 weeks old — sometimes longer if they need extra time to meet our feeding and developmental requirements. This is non-negotiable. If this timing does not work for you, we recommend waiting until it will. Our puppies’ well-being always comes first.
We follow a strict deworming and vaccination schedule. Puppies are dewormed every 2 weeks until 8 weeks of age, then every 3 weeks until 4 months, and monthly until they are one year old. Adult dogs are dewormed every 30 days, and expectant mothers receive an additional dose 1–2 weeks before delivery.
Vaccinations are administered according to veterinary guidelines. At 4 weeks, puppies receive a Parvo vaccination (Neopar). At 6 weeks, we give a 2-in-1 vaccination, and if puppies remain in our care past 9 weeks, they receive a 5-in-1 booster.
We begin the weaning process at 6 weeks of age, giving our puppies time to adjust before they go home at 8 weeks.
Puppies are sold with limited AKC registration (no breeding rights).
A veterinary checkup within 72 hours of adoption is required. This initial visit confirms your puppy’s health and helps establish care with your veterinarian for future vaccines, deworming, and wellness checks.
Our Policies and Process
We are licensed breeders in the state of Texas, operating under the regulations of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
For the safety of all our dogs, no outside pets are allowed on our property at any time.
Visits must be scheduled in advance. We are not available for walk-ins and do not accept appointments every day. Please email us at [email protected] to set up a time.
We do not sell to brokers, pet stores, or puppy mills. We will not accept deposits from businesses or third parties. Our puppies are placed in loving homes only.
A $300 deposit (plus tax and card fees) is required to reserve a puppy. This deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable, unless your reserved puppy becomes ill or passes away before placement.
We reserve the right to refuse placement of a puppy if we feel the home is not a good fit.
If you have any questions or would like to learn more, feel free to contact us. We’re here to help you find the perfect addition to your family!
